The Science of Aromatherapy

The Science of Aromatherapy

All living matter can be measured in MHz (megahertz).  This is scientific and evidence-based. It is referred to as a frequency. God, spoke frequency into existence, as He did everything.  Today in current times, we know we can measure the frequency of all matter. Molecules vibrate and create frequency.

The Roses energy has been measured at 320 MHz (highest level of any living thing). The human body has been measured at 62-68 MHz (healthy) at the time of cold or flu it drops to 58 MHz, and at the time of death, a human has an electrical vibration of 25 MHz.  This is not wizardry or sorcery this is science and ancient peoples had knowledge of this up, till about the the Dark Ages (around 5 AD).  Today with technology we know we can measure frequency, once again.

In Aromatherapy, we use oils to raise or lower the MHz of the human body through the olfactory senses.  These senses take the essential oils to the bloodstream and to the brain, this is why a scent can transport you to a memory or place.

The olfactory(sense of smell) actually stimulates memories in the brain as well as other body systems.   God made the nose a truly unique system in the body with millions of nerve endings all serving a purpose!  One of these purposes is to take molecules past the blood-brain barrier and create healing within the cells and body.

Biblical interpretations often suggest that God created the sense of smell as a gift, allowing people to experience pleasant aromas as a blessing.

The Bible frequently uses the metaphor of a "sweet-smelling savor" to describe offerings and acts that are pleasing to God, linking the sense of smell to worship and divine favor. This connection is why aromatherapy, which harnesses the power of essential oils and their aromas and "sweet-smelling savors", can be seen as a tool and a means of fostering well-being naturally, side-effect free.

Aroma or scent signals travel to the limbic system, the part of the brain responsible for emotions, memories, and learning. Before we even take our first bite of pizza, our nose picks up its aroma, creating a lasting association between the smell, taste, sight, and sounds of that moment. We also retain whether the experience was enjoyable or not. This strong link to memory explains why certain scents can instantly transport us back to events from years past. Likewise, the connection to emotions is why smells have a powerful influence on our mood.

Delving into scientific topics like the sense of smell offers a fresh, modern perspective on Jesus. By age twelve, He was already an astonishing many scholars in the temple, teaching from the very scriptures He had inspired.

At thirty, He emerged as a teacher and healer, transforming countless lives. Today, I perhaps Jesus could lead a lecture and teach the science of the olfactory that He created!  How God's intricate sense of smell and the nose system is connected to the brain and can, does, and will affect the human body, emotions, and sense of connection to others and God.

A fascinating exercise to immerse yourself in life during biblical times is to imagine the scents that filled the air during key events. Picture the temple in the Old Testament, heavy with the scent of thousands of slaughtered animals and the metallic tang of spilled blood. Envision the portico in Jesus’ time, where the unwashed, crippled, and homeless gathered—one of whom was healed by Christ after 38 years of paralysis. In the upper room, the aroma of dusty feet mingled with the rich scents of Passover foods. The Garden of Gethsemane carried the sweet fragrance of olive trees and the crisp night air. At Calvary, the air was thick with fear, dried sweat, and the musty scent of discarded clothing, while the nearby Gehenna garbage dump added its acrid stench. Finally, imagine the damp, musty air of the rock-hewn tomb where the Lord was laid to rest.

Reflect for a moment on your own sense of scent experiences, as you can see in answering these questions below, the sense of smell is a powerful sense the Lord has given us as a tool in our overall wellness.

Recall a scent from your childhood that still stands out in your memory. What makes it so unforgettable?

Do you ever pause to appreciate the aroma of your food before taking a bite?

Which scents have the greatest impact on your mood? Are there any particular aromas that help you relax? In what way?

"You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions; your robes are all fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia."

Psalm 45:7-8
